The different types of kitchen hoods
Wall-mounted hoods: These hoods are mounted on the wall above the cooktop or range. They come in a variety of sizes, designs, and styles, and can be ducted or ductless.
Island hoods: These hoods are mounted from the ceiling above an island cooktop. They require special ductwork to vent outside, and their design often includes a chimney-like structure.
Under-cabinet hoods: These hoods are installed underneath cabinets above the cooktop. They come in various styles and sizes, and are often less expensive than other types of hoods.
Downdraft hoods: These hoods are installed into the cooktop, and they suck smoke and fumes downward and out through a vent below the cooktop.
Insert hoods: These hoods are installed into a custom-built cabinet above the cooktop, and they are designed to blend in with the cabinetry fo a seamless look.
Ceiling-mounted hoods: These hoods are installed into the ceiling above the cooktop, and they require special ductwork to vent outside.
